According to the Seed Savers Exchange, an heirloom is defined as any garden plant that has a history of being passed down within a family, just like pieces of heirloom jewelry or furniture. Many of the vegetables and flowers that will be available at the sale have origins that date back hundreds of years ago. These old varieties often have better flavor or fragrance than today's highly hybridized offerings. The vegetables can also come in extremely interesting shapes and colors.

Pictured are just a few of these selections that were offered at our 2006 sale. You may click here to see our 2006 Heirloom Plant Sale List.

Many thanks to our generous partners who are grew these heirlooms for the Gardens' 2006 sale: The Plant Station Greenhouse, Foxglove Farms, Carol Catlin, Keune Authentic Foods, Reynebeau Floral and Green Handel Greenhouse.
